Learn the tricks of drawing what you see to create compelling compositions of the things you love. Drawing skills will be refined and students will learn how to use the principles of design to create more dynamic compositions. This beginning course will focus on proportion, perspective, mark-making and value with still life, using either graphite or charcoal.

Kneaded eraser
Drawing pencils or charcoal pencils
ABOUT THIS INSTRUCTOR:
Evy McLean is an accomplished artist and educator with a lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and the natural world. She holds a BFA from Texas Woman’s University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and an Associate degree in Advertising Design from the Dallas Art Institute. After a successful career in graphic design, Evy found her calling teaching art to students of all ages. Her own work, primarily in painting and printmaking, explores the intricate and often overlooked beauty found in nature. Evy believes art is a powerful force for creativity, connection, and community.
