Classes for Youth and Children

We apologize that our youth classes are often sold out! We are working on securing more instructors to teach classes for children and youth. 
​If you’re an artist interested in teaching children and youth, WE NEED YOU! Please consider submitting a class proposal and inspiring the youth in our community.  

STEP ONE: Purchase your child's class/workshop below.

STEP TWO: ​After purchasing, please complete the waiver, permission, and photo release form for any child under 18 years of age for classes must fill out the below form prior to the child attending a class. Thank you!​

Halloween Prop Making: Apothecary Potion Bottle

October 1st + 8th 10:00-12:00 PM

Instructor: Michele Finacle


Recovered from the depths of Davy Jone's locker, this apothecary jar holds the secrets that dead men can't tell. Students in this class will learn beginning polymer clay techniques and the painting technique vert de gris, which makes an object look like aged copper. Students will also learn to distress a bottle for an aged appearance. With these techniques in your pocket, you can build an entire apothecary for Halloween or year round use. Students must provide their own glass bottle. This class meets 2 times.


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Michele has taught high school and middle school for 15+ years, including Drama. She studied technical theater at Argonaughts School of the Arts and has worked the local theater circuit for many years.


WHAT TO BRING:

$10 Material Fee to be handed directly to the instructor which will cover all materials used in the class.


Please note, in addition to registration, all students under 18 years old must also complete THIS FORM.


Youth Grades 6-12

Adults

For safety reasons (use of hot glue guns etc.) Children Grades 3+ are welcome if parent enrolls and is participating with them in the class

Halloween Prop Making: Spell Book Diorama w/ Lights

October 4th and 11th 6:00-8:00PM

Instructor: Michele Finacle


Put a little magic into your Halloween decor this year with a spell book diorama. Two decorations in one: closed it looks like an ancient book of magic, open and reveal a witch's lair with light up cauldron. Students will learn some beginning prop-making skills like sculpting, painting techniques such as aging and distressing, and how to turn ordinary, everyday objects into a world of fantasy. This class meets 2 times.

​COURSE CANCELLATION POLICY
Occasionally the Silverton Arts Association may find it necessary to cancel a course or workshop due to low enrollment or other scheduling  conflicts. If this occurs, registered students will be contacted and allowed to transfer to another class or be refunded the full course tuition and any additional fees.
STUDENT CANCELLATION POLICY
Students will receive a full refund of tuition and fees if the request to withdraw is no later than seven days prior to the first class session. A request to withdraw from a course less than seven days prior to the first class session will not be eligible for tuition and fee refunds.  If you register for a class or workshop within seven days of the class, the cancellation policy will automatically forfeit your right to a refund if you then withdraw from the class. By registering and paying for the class you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
