We’re excited to share more about an upcoming job posting for the Arts Association’s first Executive Director. A dedicated team of three board officers (our President, Treasurer, and Secretary) will facilitate the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring that we select the best candidate to lead the Silverton Art Center. Together, SAA board leaders have created a financial runway that will see this position self-sustainable by 2027. A sample from a recent grant, written for the Oregon Community Foundation’s Arts and Culture Rebuilding Program sums it up well: “While the Arts Association weathered the pandemic and came back strong with new programs and events, it’s become clear that we cannot meet all our community’s needs through volunteer leadership alone. Our volunteers have invested in their community by contributing over 7,500 hrs over the last three years towards the recreation of our admin systems, new services, long-deferred repair of our buildings, and drastically improving our fundraising. We restarted our arts education in 2023 and tripled programming revenues in 2024 by recruiting additional teachers skilled at offering instruction in different mediums. Additionally, we were able to run new Summer Art Camps and a Film Camp — all of these sold out! In 2025, we will hire our first executive director and plan to sustain the position through restored and new art center programs. …We’ve reached a point where we cannot ensure the sustainability of this organization without strong leadership for our services — those we’ve built, and those we must bring back stronger. We’re excited and hopeful that the timing of your grant will allow us to take this vital step forward for the arts in our rural community.” Copies of the Executive Director job listing will be available at our Holiday Party.
